We are your blockchain development company in Malta

We build blockchain products for companies in Malta with our in-house team, starting from MiCA and the 2024 Maltese act that applies it, now that the former VFA licence is no longer a route to operate.

Blockchain development in Malta, from idea to production

We take your use case to a product you can launch, operate and extend. One team designs the architecture, writes the contracts and connects them to your systems.

Tell us what you want to build
  1. The Maltese framework, from the architecture

We separate what the MFSA decides, the financial authorisation, from what the MDIA assesses, the technology: technical recognition does not allow issuing, custody or trading. We design custody, permissions and records for MiCA, not for the VFA regime.

  2. Smart contracts prepared for audit

We write your business logic with tests and peer review, document every contract for an external audit and deploy it in stages before it runs in production.

  3. In your language and on your schedule

You work in English, an official language of Malta, or in Spanish if your team prefers, with the people who design and write the code. Meetings take place during your working hours, and the rest is followed in writing, through shared documentation and a stable technical channel.

  4. A foundation that can keep growing

We hand over documented code with deployments and monitoring planned, so your team can maintain the product and add features on a foundation it understands.

We cover the full Web3 product lifecycle: idea, MVP, mainnet deployment, audits and maintenance.

Use cases

Blockchain use cases in Malta

Cases that build on what Malta already records and controls, from the catch document for every bluefin tuna to the licence for every holiday let.

  • Circular bluefin tuna farming cages at sea off the coast of Malta with a fisherman seen from behind on a boat, farmed bluefin tuna with blockchain in Malta

    Farmed bluefin tuna

Malta appears in ICCAT's record of bluefin tuna farms, and ICCAT requires an electronic catch document (eBCD) to identify each tuna's origin; the record follows it to the sale.

  • Container ship berthed at the Malta Freeport quay with a dock worker seen from behind, container transhipment with blockchain in Malta

    Container transhipment

Malta Freeport handled 2.87 million TEU in 2025, around 96% of it transhipment; the record follows each container from the ship that unloads it to the one that carries it on.

Blockchain for Supply Chain & Logistics
  • Limestone facade with colourful wooden balconies on a Valletta street with a tourist seen from behind, licensed holiday lets with blockchain in Malta

    Licensed holiday lets

Short-term holiday lets need a Malta Tourism Authority licence, whose number anyone can check in its validator; the record links each booking to that number.

    Blockchain for Real Estate
  • Two people seen from behind at a whiteboard in an office inside a Valletta limestone townhouse, regulatory sandbox testing with blockchain in Malta

    Sandbox testing

The MFSA runs a Regulatory Sandbox for innovative solutions that need testing under defined conditions; we prepare the prototype for that setting before authorisation is sought.

Blockchain regulatory framework in Malta

In Malta, MiCA applies alongside the Markets in Crypto-Assets Act 2024, with the MFSA as competent authority and the FIAU covering anti-money laundering. The transition for former VFA licence holders ended on 1 July 2026 and the Virtual Financial Assets Act was repealed on 3 July. An MDIA technology assessment is not CASP authorisation, and a token that is a financial instrument is assessed under securities rules.

Security

Security in blockchain development in Malta

Every delivery goes through the same checklist before it reaches mainnet. What changes between projects is the depth of each control, because an MVP does not carry the same risk as a contract that holds third-party funds.

Before mainnet

  • Roles and permissions defined for every critical function
  • Unit and invariant tests, and fuzzing on the logic that moves value
  • Static analysis and peer review of every change
  • Multisig and timelock on administration when the risk justifies it
  • Custody and rotation of the deployment keys agreed
  • External audit when the value at risk requires it

FAQ

Frequently asked questions about blockchain development in Malta

What we are asked before a project starts.

Talk to our team
  1. Which regulations apply to a blockchain project in Malta?

MiCA and the Markets in Crypto-Assets Act 2024 govern crypto-asset issuance and services, with the MFSA as supervisor: providing services requires CASP authorisation or, for certain financial entities, the Article 60 notification, and ART or EMT issuance follows its own procedure. The former VFA licence is no longer an alternative. AML obligations also apply and, if the token is a financial instrument, so do securities rules. We analyse the fit of your case before writing any code.

  2. Do you work with both startups and established companies?

Yes. With startups we work from MVP validation to a product they can present in a funding round; with established companies, on tokenization, traceability and digital identity projects with demanding compliance requirements. Either way, smart contracts go through tests and review before they reach mainnet.

  3. How do you work with Maltese companies?

Directly with the people who design and build the product, in English or Spanish. Meetings fit into your working day, decisions are put in writing, and shared documentation and a stable technical channel keep the work organised.

  4. How long does blockchain development take?

It depends on product complexity, the integrations with your systems and the level of review required. Before development we set the scope, dependencies and deliverables of each phase, so you can decide what reaches production first and what waits for a second iteration. From the start, the plan separates an MVP from a complete architecture.

  5. Which blockchain network is right for my project?

The one your product requirements call for. For EVM projects we compare Ethereum, Polygon, Arbitrum or Base on finality, costs, tooling, interoperability, custody and compliance, and we consider non-EVM networks when they fit better. The recommendation covers contracts, indexing, wallets and operations, and takes into account who will use the product.
