Blockchain traceability

What does blockchain add to traceability?

A record of events that several companies in the chain share without any one of them controlling it. Each batch gets an identifier, each event is signed and its fingerprint is anchored on the network. The full data stays in your systems, and an auditor or customer can check that nobody has altered it.

What's included

What our blockchain traceability services include.

Every piece answers a question your supply chain must handle in front of a customer, an auditor or customs. Who did what, when and with which batch.

  • Identifier and QR code

A unique identifier per product or batch, printed as a QR code that opens its digital passport.

  • ERP integration

Connectors to your ERP, MES or WMS that capture each event without entering data twice.

  • On-chain anchoring

Every event signed and its hash anchored on-chain, batched together to keep costs down.

  • Digital product passport

The product's public record with origin, materials and repair data, per its delegated act.

  • Per-company permissions

Suppliers, manufacturers and carriers sign their own events with role-based permissions.

  • Public verification

A page that checks every record against the network, for customers, auditors and customs.

Architecture decision

What goes on-chain?

It is the decision that weighs most on cost and confidentiality. Anchoring the hash proves the data has not changed without publishing it. Storing it in full exposes it to anyone, and a permissioned network limits it to its members.

CriterionEvent hashFull dataPermissioned network
What the network storesThe event fingerprint and its timestamp. The whole event, readable by anyone. The event, on nodes run by authorized companies.
ConfidentialityHigh with a salted hash. The data cannot be rebuilt.None. Prices and suppliers are exposed.Limited to the network's members.
Cost per eventLow. Thousands of events fit in one Merkle root. The highest, and it grows with event size.No public gas, but nodes to run and govern.
Who can verifyWhoever receives the data checks it on-chain.Anyone, on the block explorer.Only those with network access.

In the EU digital product passport, the operator keeps the data and the EU registry holds the identifier. Anchoring the hash on-chain fits that model.

Methodology

How we build your traceability system.

Four phases, each with a concrete deliverable. We start from your real supply chain, not from the technology, and nothing rolls out across the range without a pilot on a real product.

  1. Who records what at each link and where a shared record removes reconciliation between companies.

FigJam process map of a supply chain, from supplier to end customer
  2. What gets anchored, on which network and how it connects to your ERP, in an architecture document.

Preliminary Excalidraw architecture with web app, smart contracts, EVM network and the client's ERP
  3. Registry contracts with role-based permissions, capture connectors and the public passport page.

Solidity smart contract that restricts who can operate, open in VS Code
  4. Foundry and Slither testing, then a pilot on a real product before rolling out across the range.

Passing Foundry tests and Slither analysis in the terminal before the pilot
Use cases

How is blockchain used in the supply chain?

Wherever several companies must prove the same origin to a third party. These are the examples where it fits best.

Security

Security in blockchain traceability

Every delivery goes through the same checklist before it reaches mainnet. What changes between projects is the depth of each control, because an MVP does not carry the same risk as a contract that holds third-party funds.

Before mainnet

  • Roles and permissions defined for every critical function
  • Unit and invariant tests, and fuzzing on the logic that moves value
  • Static analysis and peer review of every change
  • Multisig and timelock on administration when the risk justifies it
  • Custody and rotation of the deployment keys agreed
  • External audit when the value at risk requires it
