Blockchain development in Costa Rica, from idea to production

We turn your use case into a product you can launch, operate and grow. The same team designs the architecture, writes the contracts and integrates them with your systems.

Tell us what you want to build
  1. The Costa Rican framework, from the architecture

Before choosing a network we describe what the product does for the client, from where and who controls the assets. That decides whether it falls under VASP registration with SUGEF and whether, by offering investment rights, it also reaches SUGEVAL's remit.

  2. Smart contracts ready for audit

We write your business logic with tests and peer review, and prepare the code for an external audit and a staged deployment before it runs in production.

  3. In Spanish and on your schedule

You work in Spanish with the people who design and write the code. Meetings are set within your working day in San José, and the rest moves forward through shared documentation and a stable technical channel.

  4. A foundation ready to evolve

We document the code and plan deployments and monitoring. Your team receives a technical foundation for maintaining the product and adding features.

Blockchain regulatory framework in Costa Rica

Law 10961, in force since 19 September 2026, brought virtual asset service providers into the anti-money laundering regime: they must register with SUGEF, and the law itself states that registration is not an authorisation to operate. Its implementing rules have yet to be confirmed. If the product offers investment rights, it also falls within the remit of SUGEVAL and the National Register of Securities and Intermediaries.

Security

Security in blockchain development in Costa Rica

Every delivery goes through the same checklist before it reaches mainnet. What changes between projects is the depth of each control, because an MVP does not carry the same risk as a contract that holds third-party funds.

Before mainnet

  • Roles and permissions defined for every critical function
  • Unit and invariant tests, and fuzzing on the logic that moves value
  • Static analysis and peer review of every change
  • Multisig and timelock on administration when the risk justifies it
  • Custody and rotation of the deployment keys agreed
  • External audit when the value at risk requires it

FAQ

Frequently asked questions about blockchain development in Costa Rica

What we are asked before a project starts.

Talk to our team
  1. Which regulations apply to a blockchain project in Costa Rica?

If you provide exchange, transfer, custody or administration of virtual assets as a business, Law 10961 requires you to register with SUGEF and apply anti-money laundering controls: customer due diligence, reconstructable records, suspicious transaction reports to the UIF-ICD and the transfer information of the travel rule. Registration does not authorise you to operate, and an investment offering is assessed separately with SUGEVAL. We review the fit of your case before writing code.

  2. Do you work with both startups and established companies?

Yes. We support startups from MVP validation to their first funding round, and established companies on tokenization, traceability and digital identity projects with strict compliance requirements. Smart contracts go through tests and review before reaching mainnet, whatever the project.

  3. How do you work with Costa Rican companies?

In Spanish and in direct contact with the people who design and build the product. Meetings go in your working hours; the rest of the work moves forward through shared documentation, written decisions and a stable technical channel.

  4. How long does blockchain development take?

It depends on product complexity, the number of integrations and the review it needs. Before development we agree scope, dependencies and phase deliverables. That way you decide what reaches production first and what waits for a second iteration, without treating an MVP as if it were the complete architecture.

  5. Which blockchain network is right for my project?

The one the product requirements call for, not the most talked about. For EVM projects we compare Ethereum, Polygon, Arbitrum or Base on finality, costs, tooling, interoperability, custody and compliance, and we consider non-EVM networks when they fit better. The recommendation covers contracts, indexing, wallets and operations, with the product's users in mind.
