Agricultural tokenization. Funding and origin, lot by lot.

Agricultural tokenization lets a farm or a cooperative finance its season or expansion with verified investors, offer rights over the harvest or certify the origin of each lot. We build the platform for each case, and the token reflects a right against the issuer, not ownership of the land or the crop.

Why now

Why tokenize a harvest now?

Agriculture received just 2.24% of global credit in 2024, according to FAO. In the EU, farmers' unmet demand for bank financing reached €62 billion in 2022, and 58% of that gap was in loans longer than seven years, according to the European Commission. An issuance with verifiable data per lot or per build reaches into that gap.

Platform

Platform for crop finance and agricultural lot records

A season or a build is financed months before any revenue arrives. The white label platform covers the issuance, investor onboarding and payments, while the per-lot identifier, certificates and mobile delivery logging are custom development.

  • Lot and plot records

Plot, crop, variety, harvest estimate and documents, linked to the vehicle that issues the tokens.

  • Unique ID per lot

Custom identifier that follows a lot from field to buyer and links deliveries, lab tests and certificates.

  • Seasonal financing

An ERC-3643 token per harvest, held only by verified investors, with per-holder caps and a lock until close.

  • Certifications and lab tests

Custom records for organic, origin or quality certificates, linked to the issuing body and the lot.

  • Milestone-based payments

Semiannual bond interest or, for a sale proceeds right, payment once delivery is recorded (custom), always with a receipt.

  • Investor and grower portal

Investors view positions, documents and payments. Mobile delivery logging for growers is custom-built.

Institutional custody, integrated

We integrate custody and key management providers through their APIs, including Fireblocks, BitGo, Coinbase Prime, Anchorage Digital, Copper and Ledger Enterprise. Depending on the provider and model, keys are managed with MPC or multisig so that none depends on a single device. If the token is a security, custody on behalf of clients is provided by an authorized entity.

Structure

Farm finance, harvest rights or origin certificates

It depends on why you tokenize. It can be funding for the farm, a right over the harvest or stored produce, or a certificate proving the origin of each lot. The physical crop rarely passes to the holder, and the chosen right decides the regulation and who carries the risk.

A farm can combine formats, for example bonds to fund a build and origin certificates to sell its lots. In Spain, S.L. shares and cooperative contributions are not transferable securities, and the documents explain climate and crop-yield risk, which no token removes.

Methodology

How we tokenize an agricultural project, step by step

Funding a season or an expansion, selling a harvest in advance or certifying the origin of each lot follows four phases, with field, legal and technical work running in parallel.

  1. We study the farm, its crops, its sales contracts and who the token is for, and define what it represents, farm funding, a right over the harvest or stored produce, or a lot origin certificate. The output is the issuance or lot program model.

  2. The law firm classifies the token and sets the offering route, with a prospectus, under an exemption or through crowdfunding, with retail investor safeguards where they apply. An origin certificate is reviewed against food and labeling rules. Each conclusion becomes a rule in the flow.

  3. The white label platform provides KYC onboarding, e-signature, SEPA or stablecoin payment, ERC-3643 tokens and payments, under the brand of the farm, the cooperative or the authorized provider. Lot identifiers, certificates and the grower app are custom-built.

  4. The issuance reaches investors through the farm's network and digital channels, and we measure how many complete a subscription. Afterward, the platform pays on each due date and, where lots are registered, posts their progress and certificates.

Assets

Which agricultural assets can be tokenized?

Any asset with an identifiable lot, a vehicle able to issue the right and verifiable field data, whether a harvest, a farm or a piece of equipment.

  1. Growing crops

Seasonal financing tied to acreage, crop yield and a sales contract.

  2. Stored produce

Lots of olive oil, wine, grain or coffee under inventory control.

  3. Land and farms

Equity in the company that owns farms, greenhouses and operations.

  4. Equipment and irrigation

Machinery, irrigation, silos and mills with identifiable revenue.

  5. Supply contracts

Future receivables from signed agreements with a known buyer.

  6. Soil carbon

Removals from farming practices certified under a recognized framework.

Regulation

Which regulation applies to agricultural tokenization?

Check the regulation by country

The one that matches the right the token represents, on top of the rules for the product. A bond, a seasonal loan or a share of sale proceeds offered as an investment is assessed as a security or crowdfunding.

The first thing we ask for is the farm's title, the build or season budget and the sales contracts. Then we settle the source of each data point, the vehicle and the issuance route with your law firm.

In the European Union, bonds and shares issued by the company that owns the farm are transferable securities and fall under securities market rules, not MiCA. Loans and securities can be offered through a crowdfunding platform under Regulation (EU) 2020/1503, up to €5 million over twelve months and with an entry knowledge test for retail investors.

The product follows its own rules, such as food safety, geographical indications or, for cattle, cocoa, coffee, oil palm, rubber, soy or wood, the EU Deforestation Regulation, which requires geolocating the plot of origin. Recording an event on-chain does not prove compliance unless the data comes from the competent operator or verifier.

FAQ

Agricultural tokenization FAQ

What we are asked before a project starts.

Talk to our team
  1. Does the token make the investor the owner of the crop?

Only if the legal structure and documents grant that right, with identified lots, inventory control and rules for shortfalls. The token usually represents a loan or bond, a share of sale proceeds or shares in the company that owns the farm.

  2. What happens if the harvest falls short?

It depends on the right. With a loan or bond, the grower still owes the principal, and with a sale proceeds right, the investor receives less. The documents set how shortfalls, insurance and delays are shared, and the smart contract only enforces those rules with the recorded data.

  3. Does blockchain guarantee the origin of farm produce?

No. Blockchain traceability prevents silent changes to the record, but origin depends on field controls, reliable identifiers and recognized verifiers. The platform assigns an accountable party to each data point and keeps who submitted it and when.

  4. Do growers need to use wallets or understand blockchain?

No. We custom-build an app for growers to log deliveries and documents from a phone. The platform handles signatures and on-chain records through an embedded wallet. Institutional infrastructure such as Fireblocks or BitGo can be integrated for key management. If the token is a security, custody on behalf of clients is provided by an authorized entity.

  5. Can investors sell their position before the harvest is settled?

Only to other verified investors and only if the token rules and regulation allow it. Many seasonal issuances lock tokens until the lot is sold, and liquidity depends on demand and a suitable exit mechanism.
