Blockchain development in San Marino, from idea to production

We take your use case to a product you can launch, operate and extend. One team designs the architecture, writes the contracts and connects them to your systems.

Tell us what you want to build
  1. The San Marino framework, from the architecture

We classify the token before choosing the network. A type A token falls to BCSM and a type B token to San Marino Innovation; when an operator provides services in both, BCSM is competent. That line shapes issuance, custody and DLT Register entry.

  2. Smart contracts ready for review

We write your business logic with tests and peer review, document it for an external audit and deploy it in stages before it runs in production.

  3. In English or Spanish, within your working day

You work in English, or in Spanish if your team prefers, directly with the people who design and write the code. Meetings are set in your working hours, and day-to-day follow-up runs through shared documentation and a stable technical channel.

  4. A foundation that can keep evolving

We hand over documented code with deployments and monitoring planned, so your team can maintain the product and add features on a foundation it knows.

Use cases

Blockchain use cases in San Marino

Cases that build on what San Marino already authorises or controls by law, from the print run of a stamp issue to wine with a mark of origin.

  • Printed bond certificate with an embossed seal on a wooden desk in a stone-walled office, tokenized bonds with blockchain in San Marino

    Tokenized bonds

In San Marino, a bond issued as a token is a type A token: BCSM supervises it and it keeps the rules of the underlying financial instrument, with additional requirements.

    Certified Brugneto wine

Brugneto di San Marino receives its mark of origin after checks by the commission set up under Law 127/1986; the record links each bottle to the batch examined.

    Philatelic issues

Delegated Decree 69/2026 authorised the «Città dell'aria» stamp issue with a fixed print run of 15,000 souvenir sheets; the record links each sheet in the run to its issue.

    Remote solar

A property under net metering (scambio sul posto) can add a second, remote solar installation under a special regime (Decree 178/2023); the record assigns its output to that property.

Blockchain regulatory framework in San Marino

San Marino is not in the EU and does not apply MiCA directly: its own regime is Delegated Decree 138/2024, in effect since 2 October 2024. Type A tokens, which include cryptocurrencies and tokenized financial instruments, fall to the Central Bank (BCSM); type B tokens, such as utility tokens, fall to San Marino Innovation, which keeps the DLT Register. Entry in that register does not replace financial authorisation, and the MiCA alignment agreed with the EU for the end of 2026 does not by itself grant an EU passport.

Security

Security in blockchain development in San Marino

Every delivery goes through the same checklist before it reaches mainnet. What changes between projects is the depth of each control, because an MVP does not carry the same risk as a contract that holds third-party funds.

Before mainnet

  • Roles and permissions defined for every critical function
  • Unit and invariant tests, and fuzzing on the logic that moves value
  • Static analysis and peer review of every change
  • Multisig and timelock on administration when the risk justifies it
  • Custody and rotation of the deployment keys agreed
  • External audit when the value at risk requires it

FAQ

Frequently asked questions about blockchain development in San Marino

What we are asked before a project starts.

Talk to our team
  1. Which regulations apply to a blockchain project in San Marino?

Delegated Decree 138/2024 governs the issuance, offering, admission to trading and services involving tokens. The first step is classifying the token: type A, under BCSM, or type B, under San Marino Innovation. With BCSM, authorisation to form the company and permission to start operating are separate steps, and DLT Register entry is a further one. The AIF covers anti-money laundering. We analyse the fit of your case before writing any code.

  2. Do you work with both startups and established companies?

Yes. With startups we work from MVP validation to a product ready to show in a funding round; with established companies, on tokenization, traceability and digital identity projects with demanding compliance requirements. Either way, smart contracts go through tests and review before they reach mainnet.

  3. How do you work with San Marino companies?

In English or Spanish, in direct contact with the people who design and build the product. Meetings fit into your working day without your team having to rearrange its diary. Shared documentation, decision meetings and a stable technical channel keep the work organised.

  4. How long does blockchain development take?

It depends on product complexity, how many systems need integrating and the level of review required. Before development we set the scope, dependencies and deliverables of each phase, so you can decide what reaches production first and what waits for a second iteration. From the start, the plan separates an MVP from a complete architecture.

  5. Which blockchain network is right for my project?

The one your product requirements call for, not the one in fashion. For EVM projects we compare Ethereum, Polygon, Arbitrum or Base on finality, costs, tooling, interoperability, custody and compliance, and we consider non-EVM networks when they fit better. The recommendation covers contracts, indexing, wallets and operations, and takes into account who will use the product.
