Blockchain development in Colombia, from idea to production

We turn your use case into a product ready to launch, operate and grow. The same team designs the architecture, writes the contracts and integrates them with your systems.

Tell us what you want to build
  1. The Colombian framework, from the architecture

Colombia has no comprehensive regime for virtual assets, so we start from each function: who receives the pesos, who controls the assets and whether the token is a security under Law 964 of 2005.

  2. Smart contracts ready for audit

We code your business logic with tests and peer review. The code is ready for an external audit and a progressive deployment before it runs in production.

  3. In Spanish and within your working day

You work in Spanish with the people who design and write the code. Meetings are agreed within your working day, and the rest moves forward through shared documentation.

  4. A foundation that can keep growing

We document the code and plan deployments and monitoring. Your team inherits a technical foundation for maintaining the product and adding features.

Use cases

Blockchain use cases in Colombia

What Colombia already produces and records, from coffee with a geographical indication to e-invoices that circulate as negotiable instruments, is where these cases start.

  • Picker seen from behind among coffee plants with red cherries on a mountain farm in the Coffee Region, coffee origin with blockchain in Colombia

    Colombian coffee origin

Café de Colombia has been a protected geographical indication in the EU since 2007; every lot linked to its farm, the mill where it was processed and its export.

    Blockchain for Agribusiness
  • Fresh roses in buckets and cardboard boxes in the packing room of a farm on the Bogotá savanna, flower cold chain with blockchain in Colombia

    Flower cold chain

Colombia exported US$2,439.5 million of flowers in 2025, 77% to the United States: every box recorded with its farm, its temperature and its flight.

Blockchain for Supply Chain & Logistics
  • Rough and cut emeralds on white paper beside tweezers in a Bogotá workshop, emerald provenance with blockchain in Colombia

    Emerald provenance

Every emerald export goes through a physical inspection by the ANM and must prove the lawful origin of the mineral, from the mine through each trader.

    Blockchain for Fashion & Luxury
  • Printed invoices on the desk of a Colombian small business as a hand presses an endorsement stamp, invoices as negotiable instruments with blockchain in Colombia

    Invoices as negotiable instruments

An e-invoice can only circulate as a negotiable instrument once registered in the DIAN's RADIAN; the on-chain layer reflects each endorsement without replacing that register.

Blockchain regulatory framework in Colombia

Colombia has no comprehensive regime for virtual asset service providers, and Bill 510/2025 has been shelved. Obligations arise by function: anti-money laundering reports to the UIAF, tax reporting to the DIAN, including the CARF framework from the 2026 tax year, and, if the token is a security, the regime of Law 964 of 2005. None of those reports amounts to an authorisation to operate.

Security

Security in blockchain development in Colombia

Every delivery goes through the same checklist before it reaches mainnet. What changes between projects is the depth of each control, because an MVP does not carry the same risk as a contract that holds third-party funds.

Before mainnet

  • Roles and permissions defined for every critical function
  • Unit and invariant tests, and fuzzing on the logic that moves value
  • Static analysis and peer review of every change
  • Multisig and timelock on administration when the risk justifies it
  • Custody and rotation of the deployment keys agreed
  • External audit when the value at risk requires it

FAQ

Frequently asked questions about blockchain development in Colombia

What we are asked before a project starts.

Talk to our team
  1. Which regulations apply to a blockchain project in Colombia?

Without a comprehensive virtual asset regime, each function is assessed on its own. Anyone exchanging, transferring or holding assets on behalf of third parties reports to the UIAF under Resolution 314 of 2021, as part of AML rules; the DIAN sets reporting duties, including CARF; and if the token grants rights that qualify as a security, Law 964 of 2005 applies. A report is not a licence. We analyse the fit of your case before writing any code.

  2. Do you work with both startups and established companies?

Yes. We support startups from MVP validation to their first funding round, and established companies on tokenization, traceability and digital identity projects with strict compliance requirements. In every case, smart contracts go through tests and review before they reach mainnet.

  3. How do you work with Colombian companies?

In Spanish and in direct contact with the people who design and build the product. Meetings are concentrated in your working hours, and the rest of the work moves forward through shared documentation, written decisions and a stable technical channel.

  4. How long does blockchain development take?

It depends on product complexity, the number of integrations and the level of review required. Before development we agree scope, dependencies and phase deliverables. That lets you decide what reaches production first and what waits for a second iteration, without treating an MVP as if it were the complete architecture.

  5. Which blockchain network is right for my project?

The one that fits the product requirements, not the one in fashion. For EVM projects we compare Ethereum, Polygon, Arbitrum or Base on finality, costs, tooling, interoperability, custody and compliance, and we consider non-EVM networks when they fit better. The recommendation covers contracts, indexing, wallets and operations, with the product's users in mind.
