RWA distinguishes representations of traditional assets from network-native assets such as ETH. The term covers very different products: a loan-linked token, a fund unit and a right to property income have different legal characteristics and risks.
An issuance structure identifies the asset, the holder’s right, the obligated entity and the conditions for payment, transfer or redemption. The on-chain record maintains balances and technical rules; legal agreements and external registers establish how the right can be enforced. A token alone does not prove ownership of a building or the existence of a custody asset.
Tokenization can support smaller units and automate operations. Liquidity depends on buyers, authorized markets and transfer restrictions. Holding a tokenized asset does not guarantee a sale or recovery of its nominal value.
