ERC-7710, officially titled Smart Contract Delegation, was created on 20 May 2024, has Draft status and requires ERC-1271 and ERC-7579. It defines how a smart account delegates scoped authority to other contracts or accounts. To use that authority, the delegate calls the redeemDelegations function on the Delegation Manager, passing the action to execute and the proof of authority, which is the delegation itself. The interface signature accepts the permission contexts, the execution modes and the call data for each execution.
The Delegation Manager validates the delegation, checking that the action is within the granted scope and that it has not expired or been revoked. If valid, it invokes the privileged function on the delegator to execute the capability on its behalf. It uses ERC-1271 to verify contract signatures and ERC-7579 for the modular account context.
Why it matters and how it relates to ERC-7715: ERC-7710 is the on-chain contract layer of delegation, the one that defines how permissions are redeemed and enforced. ERC-7715 is the companion standard on the permission request and grant side, the wallet-to-dapp interface through which a permission for an action is requested. In short, 7715 grants the permission and 7710 executes and constrains it on-chain. The reference implementation is the MetaMask Delegation Toolkit, known as Gator, whose delegation-framework includes a DelegationManager that implements redeemDelegations.
