Metlabs shares its tokenization experience at MERGE Madrid 2025
Pablo Gómez joined a panel on funds and real-world assets with representatives of Reental, BNP Paribas Securities Services, finReg360 and Prosegur Crypto.

Metlabs took part as a sponsor and speaker at MERGE Madrid 2025, held in the Spanish capital from October 7 to 9. Pablo Gómez, the company’s CEO and founder, joined a panel on applying tokenization to funds and real-world assets.
The event brought together technology companies, financial institutions and professionals working with digital assets. Metlabs’ participation focused on sharing experience gained through building blockchain infrastructure and discussing implementation requirements with other organisations in the industry. Its contribution addressed the connection between technical development and the products that use it.
Tokenization in action
Gómez joined the panel “Tokenization in action: from funds to real-world assets”, held on the Binance main stage. He spoke alongside Eric Sánchez Gálvez from Reental, David Calabaza from BNP Paribas Securities Services, Ana Benítez Lanza from finReg360 and Álvaro Cisneros from Prosegur Crypto. Vicente Varó from Finect moderated the discussion.
The panel brought together complementary perspectives from project development, financial services, legal advisory and custody. That combination placed tokenization within the operation of financial products and the organisations involved in issuing and managing them, with each participant approaching the topic from a different area of practice.

From digital representation to operations
The discussion addressed the application of the technology in capital markets and its relationship with European regulatory frameworks. It also considered interoperability between Europe and Latin America, where coordinating infrastructure with the conditions under which a product can be used is relevant to implementation.
From Metlabs’ perspective, representing an asset through tokens requires defining the product and the operations it needs to support. Implementation connects those decisions with transaction records and the systems used by the issuer and other participants.
The discussion provided an opportunity to share that approach with professionals working on different parts of the same operating model. A tokenization initiative needs its technical design to reflect the asset’s conditions and business processes, providing a basis for assessing how the solution will work in practice.

A week with a technical dimension
Metlabs’ presence in Madrid continued on October 10 at the MERGE Tech Summit, held at IE University. Isaac González, Head of Innovation, delivered a session on the structure and operation of smart contracts.
The two contributions addressed different levels of a project: its business requirements and its technical construction. The Tech Summit report covers that session and complements the tokenization discussion held during MERGE Madrid.
