Metlabs joins the Spanish FinTech and InsurTech Association
The company joins AEFI with its specialisation in blockchain engineering and real-world asset tokenization. The association announced Metlabs’ membership on 11 September 2026, highlighting its work on infrastructure for digital asset issuance and management.

Metlabs joined the Spanish FinTech and InsurTech Association (AEFI) as a member, with the association publicly announcing its admission on 11 September 2026. The company brings its specialisation in blockchain engineering and the tokenization of real-world assets, commonly known as RWA, to the Spanish financial technology association.
Membership connects Metlabs’ work on infrastructure for issuing, distributing and managing digital assets with a forum for collaboration between financial technology businesses. In its introduction of the new member, AEFI highlighted tokenization and its development within the Spanish financial system as the focus of the company’s participation.
A forum for collaboration across the fintech sector
AEFI works to support the development of fintech and insurtech businesses in Spain through dialogue, communication and collaboration with industry stakeholders. It organises its activities into verticals and promotes research and the exchange of good practices. Its areas of activity include digital assets, financial infrastructure and payment services, bringing together companies that address different parts of the financial system.
For a blockchain development company, this setting provides an opportunity to connect engineering decisions with the needs of businesses that design and operate financial services. Issuing a digital asset involves coordinating the product, participation requirements and the processes that must remain in place throughout its life. This operational context explains the relevance of Metlabs’ membership.
Engineering for digital asset issuance and management
Metlabs’ technology work covers blockchain architecture, smart contracts and the development of applications used by issuers and their users. In tokenization projects, this encompasses initial issuance as well as the tools needed to distribute digital assets and manage subsequent operations. The infrastructure needs to reflect the characteristics of each product and the roles of its participants.
AEFI’s introduction highlighted Metlabs’ work with ERC-3643. This standard supports identity checks and transfer conditions for tokens: a transaction can depend on the recipient’s eligibility and the rules configured for the issuance. Implementing these controls starts with clearly defined project requirements and the corresponding legal assessment, so that the software reflects the conditions it is expected to enforce.
Membership brings this development perspective into AEFI’s network. For Metlabs, connecting technology with financial operations is part of building tokenization infrastructure: translating the conditions of a product into a system through which it can be issued, administered and used. Joining the association creates a forum for sharing that perspective with other businesses working across the sector.
