Signers review and authorize the same operation. The threshold specifies required signatures, while roles and modules may add other execution paths.
An M-of-N scheme requires at least M of N signers to authorize an operation. A contract account can combine these rules with modules, limits or delays. Signer independence matters as much as signer count.
A multisig can manage a treasury or administrative powers. It is distinct from MPC: a multisig verifies multiple authorizations, whereas threshold signing can produce a single cryptographic signature. Both require assessment of backups, recovery and shared points of control.
